Collegiate Aquatics 2012 Spring Competitive Stroke Clinic and Training Sessions

The conditioning and stroke clinic sessions are open to all area swimmers. Registration will be accepted on a first come, first accepted basis.

Dates:
Stroke Clinic Sessions
April 17-May 17, Tuesdays & Thursdays
For the last week, May 22 and May 24, all sessions will be held at the Latshmere Swim Club

Conditioning Sessions
April 16-May 25, Monday-Friday
For the last week, May 21-25, all sessions will be held at the Latshmere Swim Club

Location:
Central Penn Health & Fitness Center (first 5 weeks) & Latshmere Swim Club (last week)

Times:
Stroke Clinic
Tuesday & Thursday 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Training Sessions*
Monday-Friday

Monday & Wednesday: 7:00-9:00 p.m. (first five weeks at Central Penn, April 16-May 18)
Monday & Wednesday: 5:30-7:30 p.m. (last week at Latshmere Swim Club, May 21-25)

Tuesday & Thursday 6:30-8:30 p.m. (same for all weeks)
Friday 6:00-7:30 p.m. - no dryland on Friday (same for all weeks)

*Monday-Thursday, the first 30 minutes of each training session will be devoted to stretching and dryland exercises. For the first five weeks, this will take place OUTSIDE adjacent to the Central Penn natatorium. Dryland will NOT be conducted on evenings with poor weather.

All clinic and training participants should enter Central Penn Health & Fitness Center through the main entrance located at the front of the building. Parking is available next to the main entrance (the front desk area).

Directions to the Central Penn Health & Fitness Center are located on the "Directions" web page here. The fitness center is located just behind Outback Steakhouse off of Union Deposit Road.

The Central Penn Health & Fitness Center staff will require every person entering the building fill out and sign a waiver of liability. This is a new policy (at least newly enforced) and applies to everyone that wishes to enter the facility (swimmers, parents, siblings). Both Collegiate Aquatics members and swimmers/families not affiliated with Collegiate will need to complete this form. Parents will need to sign a wavier for each child. Waiver forms will be available at the front desk located at the main entry.

General expectations for all swimmers that elect to participate in the conditioning sessions:

o Swimmers should already have competitive swimming background (know all four strokes), preferably registered or intending to register for USA Swimming OR are a member of a high school team.
o The sessions are most suitable for ages 9 & over however some exceptions might be warranted provided the swimmer is capable of performing longer swim/kick sets.
o Swimmers will be expected to stay in the water for the entire practice.
o Swimmers should be able to swim continuously for ten minutes without stopping.
o Swimmers should be able to kick continuously for ten minutes without stopping.
o Swimmers should be prepared for incremental increases in workout intensity (the coaches will not negotiate the type of sets presented during the work-out).
o Swimmers should maintain focus on stroke technique, body position, and kicking throughout each practice.
o Swimmers should have a good attitude, be respectful of their peers and coaches, and be willing to learn and have fun.

General expectations for all swimmers that elect to participate in the stroke clinic sessions:
o The clinic is NOT a learn to swim program.
o Each swimmer should have knowledge of the four competitive strokes (close to legal) and be able to legally complete two of the strokes for 25 yard distance.
o Swimmers should have a good attitude, be respectful of their peers and coaches, and be willing to learn and have fun.

For the stroke clinic and training sessions, the coaches reserve the right to limit registration to provide provide for a better instruction/training environment.
